CockRock 08 - our very first weekend festival certainly put us on the map. With over 75 bands playing out over two days it was definitely a weekend to remember. The pre CockRock party started on Friday night with the bar stage playing host to the acoustic night. Acts including Alex Hulme took to the stage to get the crowd firmly warmed up.

Then Saturday morning came and with a fantastic opener on the Rapid Fire Stage by Carlisle band Falling Red we were off and raring to go! The Bar stage then followed suit with an fab set by Whitehaven lads GO. Sewerside Café then opened the Session tent and local band A Lesser Concern offically opened the newly created Slingshot Stage.

Over the weekend many new and exciting bands took to the 5 stages including the two main headliners: The Sneakypeeks and Dear Superstar who both who went down a storm with the thousands of festival goers. Bands and festival goers alike came from all over the country to visit CockRock, with fans even traveling from Germany! With the addition of the CockRock/Solfest bar stage we even had our very own locally produced cider ‘Cock Rocket Cider’ which was created especially for us.

CockRock 2008 has since had many great reviews and has even been hailed as a mini-Glastonbury! In October CockRock 2008 was also nominated for no less than four awards at The UK Festival Awards 2008 (Best Small Festival, Grass Roots Festival Award, Best Line-up and Best Toilets).

Our 2008 charity donation has now been calculated and we are very pleased to announce we have been able to donate £7000 to be split equally between The Cockermouth Mountain Rescue and The Pride of Cumbria Air Ambulance.

Cockermouth Rock Festival continues to be one of the only Cumbrian based festival that donates the vast majority of its proceeds to Cumbrian charities. In total the festival has now raised over £22,000 for the two charities.

We are very proud that CockRock 2008 was a great success and are delighted to be able to continually sustain our support for these two very worthy causes.

Of course all of this wouldnt be possible without the many people who have helped us along the way, so from all of us at CockRock we'd like to say a big thank you to everyone involved!
